A year of support for Buddy Bag Foundation

This year, See Media has been proud to support The Buddy Bag Foundation (BBF) as our charity of the year.

The Buddy Bag Foundation is a small but mighty, volunteer-led, charity providing backpacks of essential items to children entering emergency accommodation due to domestic abuse at home. It’s a gesture of comfort and support at a critical moment in their lives.

With BBF celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, and with numbers of families and children in emergency accommodation at its highest, we’re proud to have played a part in raising much-needed awareness and funds for a very worthwhile charity.

Raising funds

Through a series of team fundraising efforts, we’ve been able to raise more than £900 to support BBF’s work. Activities included a challenging 15-mile off-road run by our Managing Director, Stuart Macdonald, a popular ʼguess the number of Valentine’s sweets in the jarʼ competition organised by Junior Account Manager, Harriett Bolton, and eBay sales throughout the year by our very generous Business Manager, Sally Saunders – clearing out cupboards for a good cause.

Each effort has helped ensure more Buddy Bags reach children who need them, offering them a sense of security during difficult times. Weʼre grateful to every client, family member and friend that sponsored and supported us.

Added value

Alongside fundraising, we’ve also been able to provide pro-bono communications expertise to BBF throughout the year, contributing almost 40 hours of support, valued at over £3,000.

This has included working with BBF to create a comprehensive communications plan with recommendations for PR, fundraising and campaign activity; helping the charity to make new connections in the housing sector; and writing thought leadership articles, web stories and press releases, for trade titles such as Inside Housing.

See Media also supported the charity’s presence at the Housing Community Summit in Liverpool, where key figures from the housing sector took part in the charity’s bag pack event. And we contributed to post-event comms after its bag pack at this year’s Labour Party Conference.

Not forgetting our very own See Media team bag pack at one of our quarterly meetups earlier in the year. Together we packed 24 backpacks with essential items such as toiletries, books, clothing and toys, that will be donated to children who need it most. This team building activity gave us all valuable insight into BBF’s essential work.

Karen Williams, CEO & Co-founder, Buddy Bag Foundation, said: “We are incredibly grateful to See Media for choosing The Buddy Bag Foundation as its Charity of the Year for 2025. As a volunteer-led organisation, their fundraising efforts and the communications expertise they have donated has made a big difference. Their support has helped us raise our profile, reach new partners, and strengthen how we can help children entering emergency care.

“It has been an exciting year of progress and we are entering 2026 with big plans to further improve outcomes for our children and families.”

Thank you

Looking ahead, the Buddy Bag Foundation will offer a Buddy Bag Fund. They are encouraging housing providers, philanthropists and corporate donations to build a fund that will help families with home-comforts when they leave emergency accommodation and move into a more permanent residence.

We’re proud of everything we’ve achieved together in 2025 and hugely grateful to everyone who took part, donated or supported us along the way. It’s been a privilege to use our skills to help amplify BBF’s voice during such a landmark year for them. Every pound and every packed bag helps a child feel a little more loved and supported when they need it most.
