Here at See Media, we’ve been taking steps to reduce our environmental impact while embedding sustainability into everything we do – and we’re pleased to announce that we’re now officially a net zero carbon company.
Throughout the year, we’ve been prioritising reducing emissions by minimising energy use, optimising travel and selecting sustainable suppliers, with a goal to become net zero by 2025, a target we’ve met ahead of schedule. While we’ve officially become a net zero carbon company and are already performing above average for a business of our size, we’ve set our sights on further reducing our carbon footprint as we move into 2025. Our net zero plans will concentrate on three key areas, where we can continue to reduce our impact:
Energy Efficiency
As a fully remote company, encouraging energy-saving practices among employees is key. We’ve produced some guidance and tips to support the team with increasing energy-efficiency at home and we’ll also be optimising usage of co-working space to reduce reliance on high-energy settings.
Public Transport First
When travelling for business, our default approach is always to use public transport. Trains are our preferred option (we even had Stuart testing out the sleeper trains from Scotland to London recently!) and cars and taxis are only used if essential, with car sharing encouraged.
Regular Monitoring
We’ll be tracking our emissions through our Monday.com project management platform, making sure we have accurate and consistent data monitoring so we can make sure our carbon outputs continue to go in the right direction.
To ensure we minimise the impact our work, for any carbon emissions we can’t eliminate, we’ll be mitigating them by planting trees! We’ve planted 100 mangrove trees so far, through the Eden Reforestation Project in Madagascar, mitigating 5,000 kg of CO2 while also supporting biodiversity and local ecosystems.
